Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

EVAP Canister

Removal
1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Hoist vehicle.
3. Disconnect EVAP leak check module connector.
4. Disconnect purge hoses (1), tank hose (2) and air suction hose (3) from EVAP canister (4) and air suction pipe (5).
For quick joint of air suction hose and tank hose, disconnect it as follows:
a. Remove mud or rust around joint by blowing compressed air, and push joint fully in arrow direction.
b. Disconnect hose joint while joint lock is unlocked by pushing both sides of joint.
5. Remove EVAP canister with EVAP leak check module and its bracket (6).
6. Remove EVAP canister with EVAP leak check module from its bracket.
7. Remove EVAP leak check module cover (7).
8. Disconnect air suction hose from EVAP leak check module.




9. Remove EVAP leak check module from EVAP canister.

Installation




For installation, reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- When installing hoses, do not apply soap, grease or oil to insertion part.
- For quick joint, push joint into pipe till joint lock clicks and check that quick joint does not pull out by pulling quick joint in arrow direction.
