Clutch Cable: Service and Repair
CLUTCH CABLEREMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Remove clutch cable joint nut (1).
3. Loosen outer cable nuts (2) then disconnect cable from bracket and release arm (3).
4. Untie cable clamps.
5. Remove clutch cable outer bolts at dash panel in engine room.
6. Disconnect cable hook at clutch pedal shaft arm (4), then take off cable.
INSPECTION
Inspect clutch cable and replace it for any of following conditions.
- Excessive cable friction.
- Frayed cable.
- Bent or kinked cable.
- Broken boots.
- Worn end.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply grease to cable end hook and also joint pin before installing cable.
"A": Grease 99000-25010
2. Position cable and hook cable end with clutch pedal shaft arm.
3. Joint inner cable end with joint pin (2) in release arm (3) and tighten outer cable nuts (4) around the center of outer cable thread portion.
Tightening Torque
(a): 18 Nm (1.8 kg-m, 13.0 ft. lbs.)
(b): 50 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36.0 ft. lbs.)
4. Screw in joint nut (1) and adjust free travel of pedal to specification by turning nut.
Free travel "a": 0.5 - 1.5 mm (0.02 - 0.06 inch)
5. Connect battery and check to make sure function of clutch with engine run.
