Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP5) (Service and Repair).




2. Rotate the positive cable terminal lever (1) to the release position.
3. Remove the positive battery cable terminal (2) from the battery.




4. Remove the battery hold down strap fastener (1).

Note: The battery hold down strap has a retaining feature built into the upper part of the strap.

5. Remove the battery hold down (2) from the battery and battery tray.




6. Remove the battery (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the battery (1) into the vehicle.




2. Install the battery hold down (2) to the battery and battery tray.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the battery hold down strap fastener (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




4. Position the positive battery cable terminal (2) to the battery.
5. Move the terminal lever (1) into the latched position.
6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP5) (Service and Repair).
