Wiper Motor Crank Arm Replacement
WIPER MOTOR CRANK ARM REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 39232 Wiper Linkage Separator
- J 39529 Wiper Linkage Installer
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the hood.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the wiper system is in the PARK position.
2. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
3. Lower the wiper motor module from the air plenum. Refer to Wiper Motor Module Replacement.
4. Using the J 39232, separate the wiper transmission link (1) from the wiper motor crank arm.
5. Remove the wiper motor pivot shaft nut (4).
6. Remove the crank arm (5) from the wiper motor pivot shaft.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Once aligned, secure the crank arm nut (4) while holding the crank arm between the 2 motor casting dimples (2).
IMPORTANT: Position the wiper motor crank arm onto the pivot shaft and ensure the crank arm is positioned between the 2 dimples (2) on the wiper motor transmission assembly.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
2. Using the J 39529, connect the transmission link (1) to the wiper motor crank arm (5).
3. Secure the wiper module. Refer to Wiper Motor Module Replacement.
4. Connect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
5. Verify the operation of the wiper system.
6. Close the hood.
