Clutch B
NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.Disassembly
1. Pry off the circlip and remove the entire plate assembly.
2. Press down the Belleville washer in a press using installing tool No. 87 91 543, or equivalent.
- Unhook the split stop ring and remove the thrust washers.
3. Check that the bushing in clutch B is in the correct position.
- The bushing must not be located so that it blocks the fluid feed holes.
- The bushing should protrude about 1.4 mm above the edge of clutch B.
4. Remove the Belleville washer.
5. Press out plunger B with compressed air through the fluid supply duct.
- Cover the other hole.
6. Press the inner ring out of the plunger.
Assembly
1. Install a new O-ring to the hub and lightly grease it using Vaseline.
2. Press the inner ring with the chamfered edge downwards into the cylinder as far as it will go.
3. Install new O-rings to the plunger and grease them lightly with Vaseline.
4. Press the plunger into the cylinder.
5. Insert the Belleville washer.
6. Press down installing tool, install the thrust washer and secure it with the stop ring by pushing together the two halves.
NOTE: The washer must be able to rotate freely.
7. Install the entire plate assembly for clutch B.
- Start with the outer plate.
- Then install friction plates and outer plates alternately.
- The 3 friction plates should be well oiled with automatic transmission fluid.
CAUTION:
^ Do not mix up the friction plates.
^ These are thicker than for clutch A and brake D.
8. Install the last plate on the top and attach it using the circlip. The final plate is thicker than the other plates.
