Thermostat: Service and Repair





REMOVAL
1. Loosen the expansion tank pressure cap and raise the car.
2. Remove the center air deflector, place a drip tray under the radiator and open the radiator drain plug. Lower the car.
3. Remove the air hose and the mass air flow sensor. Detach the idle air control valve hose from the throttle body.
4. Non-applicable.
5. Remove the stay from the thermostat housing lid as well as the hose that goes to the throttle body preheater.
6. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing lid.
7. Remove the thermostat housing lid and remove the thermostat.





INSTALLATION
1. Install the thermostat and the thermostat housing lid.
2. Do up the bolts on the thermostat housing lid.
3. Connect the hose to the throttle body preheater and install the stay to the thermostat housing lid.
4. Non-applicable.
5. Connect the idle air control valve hose to the throttle body. Install the mass air flow sensor and the air hose.
6. Raise the car, check that the radiator drain plug is tightened and install the center air deflector.
7. Lower the car, top up the coolant and check the system for leaks.
