Changing Brake Fluid
All brake fluid deteriorates after a time through oxidation and absorption of water. This lower the boiling point of the fluid, which may therefore vaporize during prolonged hard braking. The result can be sudden brake failure. It is therefore essential to change brake fluid at specified intervals.1. Using bleeder unit part No. 88 19 096 or equivalent, siphon off fluid from reservoir.
2. Fill reservoir with DOT 4 brake fluid.
3. Using bleeder unit to drain each individual wheel. The following quantities must be drained from each wheel:
a. Right front wheel, 1 quart.
b. Left rear wheel, .5 quart.
c. Left front wheel, 1 quart.
d. Right rear wheel, .5 quart.
4. Fill system with new brake fluid to bring level up to MAX mark on side of reservoir. Also change fluid in clutch system.
