Additional PDI Action: Replace Throttle Control Plate to Improve Throttle Response, Kick-Down Function

Application:
1995 9000 CDE Models with V6 Engine Vin Serial No. S1000001-S1022771

At the PDI, please replace the throttle control plate using P/N 4528 147 (listed below) on all vehicles within the affected VIN Serial No. range. This part can also be used to address a customer complaint of poor throttle response. The new throttle control plate increases the rate of throttle opening at light throttle pedal movement.

Action:





1. Remove the left-hand engine cover. It is secured in 3 places:
a. T-30 screw as shown in Figure 1, point a.
b. Rubber strap as shown in Figure 1, point b.
c. Plastic clip (part of cover itself) as shown in Figure 1, point C.





2. Lift the throttle cable off of the ball stud as shown. Remove the clip securing the cable to the bracket and slide the cable out. See Figure 2, point 2.
3. Remove the C-clip from the cruise control cable and lift off the cable. Squeeze the plastic clip and push the cable out of the bracket. See Figure 2, point 3.
4. Move the throttle to the full open position and remove the kick-down cable. Remove the nut securing the cable. See Figure 2, point 4.
5. Remove the link rod from the throttle arm by releasing the plastic clip and lifting the link rod away. See Figure 2, point 5.





6. Remove the control link by removing the bracket retaining bolts. See Figure 3, point 6.
7. Refit in reverse order but leave the engine cover off.
8. Make all necessary adjustments.
9. Refit the engine cover.
