^ Cars with VIN's beginning with "J3" (Arlov production that have square "B2" of the Campaign Plate stamped with the figure do not require any further recall work.
^ Cars with VIN's beginning with "J7" (Finland production) that have square "B1" of the Campaign Plate stamped with the figure "6" also do not require any further recall work.
^ Disregard any other campaign Plate markings.

Repair Procedure
NOTE
The bolts must be changed one at a time with the control are in place.
1. Remove and discard the nut.
FIGURE 3 - REMOVING THE BOLT FROM THE BRACKET:
2. Drive the bolt upwards to remove it from the bracket (see Figure 3).
3. Insert a new bolt from above and carefully engage the splines on the bolt with those in the bracket.
4. The splines on the new bolt must be drawn fully down into the bracket before the new nut is mounted, otherwise there is significant risk that the bolt will spin inside the bracket.
5. Screw on a used nut, stopping when the threads of the bolt meet the nylon locking insert of the nut. Using a slide hammer fitted with a claw hook (as used in body repairs) pull down on the nut to draw the splined portion of the bolt down into the bracket. Remove the used nut.
NOTE: Make sure that the bolt does not spin in the bracket while torquing the new nut.
6. Tighten a new nut to 52-70 ft.lbs (70-95 N-m).
FIGURE 4 - OUTER REAR BOLT.:
Procedure for Outer Rear Bolt
When removing the outer rear bolt (see Figure 4) use the following additional procedure:
1. To prevent damage to the steering rack boot, turn the tire approximately 15~ to the left and push the boot towards the rack.
2. Clamp the bracket to the floor pan with slip joint pliers ("Channel Locks") to prevent the bracket from being distorted.
FIGURE 5 - STAMPING THE CAMPAIGN MODIFICATION PLATE.:
