When a knock is detected, the ignition timing in the affected cylinder will retard in steps of 3° until the knocking stops. or until the ignition timing has been retarded to its maximum point (13°). The ignition timing will then return to normal in steps of 0.35° per speed controlled period. See Fig. 80 for a chart of the actions performed.
