-1993 9000 with Manual Transmission

Beginning with the 1994 9000, the waved washer and spacer on the output shaft were replaced with a collapsible spacer as a means to set preload. The procedure for setting preload changed as outlined in 9000 Section 4:1 Manual Transmission Service Manual for M94- (P/N 03 55 875) beginning on page 471-13.

When performing repairs on 1993 and earlier 9000 manual transmissions, they should be updated to the later style. A kit, p/n 87 81 502 has been made available to do this.

Anytime transmission cases are disassembled, the collapsible spacer must be replaced.

Parts:

Kit 87 81 502

Kit includes a collapsible spacer, a shorter spacer sleeve and 4th gear spacer washer. The old dished washer, sleeve and washer are to be discarded.

Action:

The procedure for setting bearing preload as outlined in 9000 Service Manual Section 4:1 pages 471-13 through 471-16 must be followed.
