1. Connect manifold gauge set to high and low pressure fittings of A/C system.
2. Insert a suitable thermometer approximately four inches into center dash vent and position thermometer at blower inlet to measure ambient temperature.
3. Start engine and run engine at 2000 RPM.
4. On models with manual A/C, set temperature control to COLD, air distribution to VENT, air inlet to RECIRCULATION and blower to RUN position 4. Engage A/C.
5. On models with Automatic Climate Control (ACC), set temperature control to LO and manually set air distribution control to VENT, air inlet to RECIRCULATION and blower speed to RUN position 3.
6. On all models, close doors, windows and hood.
7. Allow compressor clutch to cycle several times and observe discharge temperature at center vent. Discharge temperature should be as follows:
a. If ambient temperature is 68°F, discharge temperature should be 43-50°F.
b. If ambient temperature is 86°F, discharge temperature should be 43- 50°F.
c. If ambient temperature is 104°F, discharge temperature should be 50-54°F.
8. If system fail to operate as specified, refer to system troubleshooting Fig. 1.
