Thermostat: Service and Repair
REMOVAL.
1. Loosen the expansion tank pressure cap and raise the car.
2. Remove the center air deflector, place a drip tray under the radiator and open the radiator drain plug. Lower the car.
3. Non-turbo: Remove the bolts on the fuel pressure regulator. Unplug the connection between the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel-injection rail. Move the fuel pressure regulator to one side.
4. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing lid.
5. Remove the thermostat housing lid and remove the thermostat.
INSTALLATION.
1. Install the thermostat and the thermostat housing lid.
2. Install the bolts on the thermostat housing lid.
3. Non-turbo: Connect the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel-injection rail and secure it.
4. Raise the car, check that the radiator drain plug is tightened and fit the center air deflector.
5. Lower the car, top up the coolant and check the system for leaks.
Opening temperature:
Open at: 89 ± 2 °C (192 ± 4 °F)
Hose clamps torques:
10 - 16 mm - 3 Nm (2.2 ft lb)
17 - 35 mm - 4 Nm (3.0 ft lb)
36 mm - 14.5 Nm (3.3 ft lb)
