SUBJECT: SHOCK ABSORBERS ISSUE: 10/85-793
APPLICATION: EARLY M86 PRODUCTION BASE 900
From the beginning of model 1986 production until VIN Serial Nos. G2001056 and G3000994, base 900 models were mistakenly built with the high pressure gas shock absorbers fitted standard on the 900S and Turbo. These cars as a result have a slightly firmer ride than a car with the low pressure gas shock absorbers specified for base 900 vehicles.
No corrective action is necessary, however, should a ride complaint exist on an early M86 900 so affected, the shock absorbers may be changed in favor of the low pressure type.
Low Pressure Gas Shocks (Front) P/N 89-93-404
Low Pressure Gas Shocks (Rear) P/N 89-93-412
During routine service replacement, always identify the type of shock absorber (low pressure or high pressure) and replace with the same type. Do not mix shock absorber types on any vehicles. Low pressure shock absorbers (Tokico) are brown, high pressure shock absorbers (F & S) are blue.
