Subject: Labor Times for Scheduled
Maintenance
Application: All 1985-1992 Saab Models
Saab's suggested labor times for customer paid maintenance have been revised and simplified. A basic service labor time is given for cars with 8 valve and 16 valve engines. Add on items are then listed to handle different service requirements for certain models or equipment variants.
This revised listing is intended to assist your service department in setting up a clear and easily understood menu of labor times and charges for regular maintenance services. This listing supersedes all previously published Saab recommended labor times for 1985-1992 Saab models.
Along with labor times, we urge you to post on your "Saab Service Menu" any surcharge which is normally applied to maintenance services, for example, a flat fee to cover the cost of miscellaneous shop supplies or hazardous waste removal.

* Required for 85-87 900 Turbos without water cooled turbochargers. Recommended for all other models and years when driven under severe service conditions; to be performed halfway between scheduled oil change/safety inspections, e.g. at 3,750 miles intervals for model years 85-91 and at 5,000 intervals as from 92.
** Perform at intervals of 7,500 miles beginning with 7,500 for model years 85 - 91. Perform at intervals of 10,000 miles beginning with 15,000 as from model year 92.
*** Perform at 30,000 and 90,000 miles for model years 85-91 and 35,000 and 95,000 miles as from model year 92.
**** Perform at 60,000 and 120,000 miles for model years 85-91 and 65,000 and 125,000 miles as from model year 92.
Add-ons to the Basic Times
When specified in the maintenance schedule or necessary as the result of a specified inspection, additional time should be added to the above when the following operations are performed:
