Oil Pump: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil.
3. Remove flywheel protective cover, if necessary.
4. Remove oil pan.
5. Remove gasket and clean contact surface.
6. Remove oil pump and two rotors.

7. Check clearances of A and B of rotors, Fig. 35.
a. .002''-.011'' (.04 mm-.29 mm)
b. .001''-.006'' (.02 mm-.14 mm)
If clearances exceed specifications, replace rotors. Inner rotor is supplied with driving shaft.

8. Reverse procedure to install, using new gasket.
Note; When installing pressure relief valve, ensure head of spring guide (T), Fig. 36, is inserted into piston first.
9. The following must be performed on turbo engines before starting engine:
a. Disconnect three prong connector at electronic module.
b. Disconnect hose leading to turbo charger and fill with oil.
c. Activate starter until oil flows from oil line to turbo charger.
d. Reconnect oil hose to turbo charger and reconnect connector to module.
e. Run engine at idle to reestablish oil flow to turbo charger.
