USING Car. 986 FRONT END JIG

Information

This I.S. Note contains information on using the Car. 986 front end jig on Fuego models.

The jig is designed to help the technician obtain a more accurate fit when installing replacement inner fender panels or headlamp carrier panels.

Jig Fixtures

Fixtures A and B (Fig. 1) locate the jig on the vehicle front end. They are aligned with and positioned on the front side sill members (chassis legs).

Fixtures D and E are attached to the headlamp carrier panels (Fig. 2).

Fixtures C and F are attached to the inner fender panels (Fig. 2).
Jig Installation

The following components must be removed in order to install the jig on the vehicle.

^ Head lamp bezels
^ Grille
^ Radiator and A/C condenser
^ Battery on non-turbo models
^ Vacuum canister
^ Air cleaner on non-turbo models
^ Windshield washer solvent bottle (1982-83 turbo models)
^ Front bumper reinforcement and cover
^ A/C compressor on models with 2.2L engine
^ Power steering pump on models with 1.6L engine
