NEW DESIGN SPRAG CLUTCH




Information

A new design sprag clutch has been introduced into production of model 4139 automatic transmissions.

The new (type 2) sprag clutch has two bearing shoulders and T-shaped retainer clips (see illustration). The old (type 1) style clutch has U-shaped retainer clips and only one bearing shoulder (see illustration).

The new design sprag clutch will be the only one supplied for service replacement use. However, when servicing either the old or new design clutch, be sure to reinstall the clutch as shown in the Illustration.
