Steering Gear Replace

1. Remove the battery and the battery tray.
2. Disconnect the steering shaft at the flex coupling. Retain the rubber spacer.
3. Disconnect the tie rods at the rack end.
4. On vehicles equipped with power steering, disconnect power steering hoses at steering gear and plug openings to prevent entry of dirt.
5. Remove the rack mounting bolts, mark and remove the shims. If equipped with eccentric cams, do not move the cams. Remove the rack.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Be sure to install the adjustment shims in correct position marked during removal.
