Diagnosis information - Control unit DME (DFI)

Coolant temperature Engine stuck (stuck)

Diagnostic conditions
- Time since Ignition off > 6 hour(s)
- Intake air temperature at Engine start < 45 °C (°F)
- Intake air temperature at Engine start = Ambient temperature +/- 20 °C (°F)
- Engine running > 30 Second(s)

Possible fault causes
- Switch-off time defective = Gateway control module Faulty (See [Information 1])
- 3/2-way directional-control valve Faulty, at:
- Original Auxiliary heater

- Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
- Coolant temperature sensor Engine Faulty
- Influence by engine-block heater

Fault setting condition(s)
- Engine start temperature > 35 ... > 65 °C (°F) (See [Information 2])

INFORMATION
1. If the engine switch-off time (formed in the gateway control unit) that is output is > the actual value, the engine seems to have cooled down insufficiently.
This can be checked by switching the vehicle off - with the engine at operating temperature - for longer than 6 hours (ignition off). After this time:
- Switch the ignition on and connect the PIWIS Tester.
- Select the following actual values: T020, T030, T040.
- Compare the actual values:
- If the values are close together, the switch-off time calculation is probably incorrect
-->Replace gateway control unit.
- The engine temperature (T020) deviates significantly
-->Check and repair the temperature sensor and wiring

2. Nominal value depending on:
- Time since Ignition off and
- Intake air temperature at Engine start
Example: Nominal value Engine start temperature max. 65 °C (°F)
- Time since Ignition off 6.1 hour(s) and
- Intake air temperature at Engine start 44 °C (°F)
