Rear Fender Liner: Service and Repair

WM 536919 Removing and installing rear wheel housing liner

Preliminary work

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. Remove wheel. -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Removing"

Removing rear wheel housing liner

1. Unscrew fastening screw -1- securing the wheel housing liner to the centre underbody panelling.
2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the rear underbody panelling.

3. Unscrew fastening screw -1- securing the inside of the wheel housing liner to the heat protection panel.
4. Unscrew plastic nuts -2- on the inside of the wheel housing liner.

5. Unscrew fastening screw -1- on the outside of the heat protection panel.
6. Unscrew plastic nut -2- at the centre rear of the wheel housing liner.

7. Unscrew plastic nuts -2- on the centre front of the wheel housing liner.

8. Remove wheel housing liner.

Installing rear wheel housing liner

1. Place the wheel housing liner in installation position.
2. Screw in plastic nuts -2- on the inside of the wheel housing liner.
3. Screw in fastening screw -1- securing the inside of the wheel housing liner to the heat protection panel.

4. Screw in plastic nut -2- at the centre rear of the wheel housing liner.
5. Screw in fastening screw -1- securing the outside of the wheel housing liner to the heat protection panel.

6. Screw in plastic nuts -2- at the centre front of the wheel housing liner.

7. Screw in fastening screws -1- securing the wheel housing liner to the heat protection panel.
8. Screw in fastening screw -1- securing the wheel housing liner to the centre underbody panelling.

Subsequent work for removing and installing wheel housing liner
