Technical values





Preliminary work

With engine installed =>
1. Remove high-pressure pump on cylinder bank 5 to 8. -> 246319 Removing and installing high-pressure pump Service and Repair
2. Pull off cable plug on solenoid valve for valve lift switchover.
3. Detach the coolant hose if necessary.
4. Remove vacuum pump on cylinder bank 1 to 4. -> 477619 Removing and installing vacuum pump Service and Repair
5. Pull off cable plug on solenoid valve for valve lift switchover.

If cylinder head is replaced =>
6. Remove screw plug with sealing ring. -1-

Removing secondary air valve

1. Disconnect secondary-air hoses and pipe.

2. Detach secondary air valve connections.
3. Remove screw -2- and carefully pull the secondary air valve -1 or 3- out of the cylinder head.

Installing secondary air valve

1. Fit secondary air valve with a new, lightly greased sealing ring into the cylinder head.

2. Fit secondary air valve with an M6 screw. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) Fit secondary air valve connections.
3. Fit secondary-air hoses.

Subsequent work

With engine installed =>
1. Secure the coolant hose if necessary.
2. Fit cable plug on solenoid valve for valve lift switchover.
3. Fit high-pressure pump on cylinder bank 5 to 8. -> 246319 Removing and installing high-pressure pump Service and Repair
4. Attach cable plug on solenoid valve for valve lift switchover on cylinder bank 1 to 4.
5. Fit vacuum pump. -> 477619 Removing and installing vacuum pump Service and Repair
