Fan Shroud: Service and Repair



Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame)

Preliminary work

1. Remove front underbody panelling.
2. On turbo engines: Remove intake manifold at the left side.
3. Remove design cover on throttle valve.

Electrically moved components
* Danger of limbs being trapped or severed


-> Switch off electric power to drive motor.
-> Make sure it does not switch on again.
-> Check that there is no electric charge.





Overview

1. On naturally aspirated engines: Disconnect air box -2- from throttle housing.

1.1. Loosen clamp -1-.
1.2. Lift the air box for the throttle housing -2- until the wire harness for the cooling fan housing is easily accessible.
2. Release wire harness -1- at the cooling fan housing.

2.1. Open the clips -2-.
2.2. Remove wire harness from the clips.
2.3. Pull off bottom cable clip -3- at the cooling fan housing.
3. Release and pull off electric connector -1- ( -arrow- ).

4. Release side catches on both sides.

4.1. Lift up fixing clips -1- with the blade of a screwdriver and press them aside.
4.2. Fold side catches -2- to the rear.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Unscrew lower fastening screws -1-.

7. Remove cooling fan housing -2- in a downward direction.
7.1. Fold cooling fan housing -2- to the rear -A-.
7.2. Remove cooling fan housing -2- in a downward direction -B-.

Installing cooling fan housing

Warning

* Danger of limbs being trapped or severed


-> Switch off electric power to drive motor.
-> Make sure it does not switch on again.
-> Check that there is no electric charge.

1. The cooling fan housing is installed in reverse order to removal.

Subsequent work

1. Install front underbody panelling.
2. On turbo engines: Install pressure pipe at the left side.
3. Install design cover for throttle valve.
