Preliminary work
1. Remove brake light switch -> 943619 Removing and installing brake light switch - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.
2. Disengage push rod -1-.
Pressing out push rod
2.1. Unlocking tool 9767 -2- must be guided from below into the pressure piece -3- in front of the ball joint on the push rod -1-.
2.2. Fit unlocking tool -2- to the bottom of the crash support -5-.
2.3. Press the lever on the unlocking tool forward.
2.4. Press lightly on the brake pedal -4- so that the push rod -1- is released, and then pull it towards the rear.
3. Remove steering column-> 481519 Removing and installing steering column - section on "Removing" 481519 Removing and installing steering column.
Removing brake pedal
1. Remove pedal shaft -2-.
Removing pedal shaft
1.1. Remove securing clip -1- on the brake pedal shaft -2-.
1.2. Pull the pedal shaft -2- out to the left by moving the pedal back and forward slightly -arrow-.
2. Carefully turn the pedal to the left and remove it by pulling it downwards.
Installing brake pedal
Information
The cover on the pedal shaft is coded. This means that the pedal shaft can only be fitted correctly in one specific position.
It is important to check that the lugs on the cover are engaged in the cut-outs in the base of the pedal.
This is the only way to ensure that the pedal shaft is installed at the correct position and will not turn.
The pedal shaft must not be greased during installation!
1. The brake pedal is installed in reverse order to removal.
Subsequent work
1. Engage the brake booster push rod in the brake pedal.
2. Install steering column -> 481519 Removing and installing steering column - section on "Installing" 481519 Removing and installing steering column.
3. Install brake light switch -> 943619 Removing and installing brake light switch - section on "Installing" Service and Repair.
