Removing And Installing Roof Trim Panel

Preliminary work

1. Remove passenger seat.
2. Remove rear right door.
3. Remove rubber seal on rear right door.
4. Remove upper part of B-pillar trim at the left.
5. Remove upper and lower part of B-pillar trim at the right.
6. Remove C-pillar trim panel.
7. Remove sun visor.
8. Remove rear grab handles.
9. Only when replacing the roof liner: Remove reading lights.

Removing roof trim panel

INFORMATION: Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

1. Fold over the backrest for the rear right seat.
2. Move the driver's seat back as far as it will go.
3. Move the backrest on the driver's seat all the way back.







4. Unclip the roof trim panel at the fixing clips close to the sliding roof aperture (only on vehicles with a sunroof).
4.1. Check fixing clips on the roof trim panel close to the sliding-roof aperture for deformation and replace if necessary.







5. Unclip fastening parts of the roof trim panel in the rear area.
5.1. Check fixing clips on the roof trim panel for deformation and replace if necessary.







6. To avoid damage, mask the body aperture of the rear right door in the corner areas with strips of adhesive tape -1- .
7. Open the driver, passenger and rear left door.
8. Remove roof trim panel.
8.1. Three people are needed in order to remove the roof trim panel.
8.1.1. Position of first person: Driver's door
8.1.2. Position of second person: Passenger's door
8.1.3. Position of third person: Rear right door







8.2. Place the front right corner of the roof trim panel on the dashboard.







8.3. Carefully press the front left corner and the rear right and left corners -A- of the roof trim panel inwards slightly.







8.4. Guide the roof trim panel out until the aperture in the B-pillar at the right engages in the step -arrow- .

INFORMATION: The vehicle must be raised approx. 30 cm for this step.







8.5. Remove roof trim panel completely through the rear right door.

Installing roof trim panel

INFORMATION: Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

1. Fit roof trim panel.
1.1. Three people are needed in order to fit the roof trim panel.
1.1.1. Position of first person: Driver's door
1.1.2. Position of second person: Passenger's door
1.1.3. Position of third person: Rear right door

INFORMATION: The vehicle must be raised approx. 30 cm for this step.







1.2. Tilt the roof trim panel so that the aperture in the B-pillar at the right engages in the door entry area -arrow- .







1.3. Screw the roof trim panel into the vehicle.







1.4. Guide the roof trim panel into the vehicle until the front right corner of the roof trim panel is touching the dashboard.







1.5. Carefully press the front left corner and the rear right -A- and left corners -A- of the roof trim panel inwards slightly.
1.6. Guide the roof trim panel completely through the rear right door -B- .







2. Clip in fastening part of the roof trim panel in the rear area.







3. Clip in the roof trim panel close to the sliding-roof aperture with the fixing clips (only on vehicles with a sunroof).

Subsequent work

1. Install rear grab handles.
2. Install sun visor.
3. Only when replacing the roof liner: Install reading lights.
4. Install C-pillar trim panel.
5. Install upper part of B-pillar trim at the left.
6. Install upper and lower part of B-pillar trim at the right.
7. Install rubber seal on rear right door.
8. Install rear right door.
9. Install passenger seat.
