Front Bumper Reinforcement: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Front Bumper

Technical values













Preliminary work

1. Remove front apron.
2. Remove side air guide.
3. Disconnect plug connection at control unit for distance measuring sensor.

Securing radiator module

INFORMATION
- To avoid damage to the wing, the radiator module must be secured at the same height before the bumper is removed.
- This can be achieved either by securing it to the subframe using tie-wraps or by supporting it on a workshop jack or transmission jack.







1. Secure radiator module -7- with tie-wraps -9- to the subframe -8- .

Removing front bumper







1. Fold open air guides -6- .







2. Disconnect plug connections at the horns -5- .
2.1. Release locking lug -arrow A- .
2.2. Pull off connector -arrow B- .







3. Unscrew fastening screws -3-
4. Unscrew fastening screws -2- .
5. Remove horn with holder -4- .







6. Unscrew fastening screws -2- .
7. Remove bumper -1- .

Installing front bumper

NOTICE:
Different tightening torque for screwing self-tapping screws into a new or existing, old thread.
- Incorrectly screwed joints
- Risk of damage to screw thread

- Observe different tightening torques.
- When screwing screws into an existing, old thread, first screw the screws in a few turns by hand, then screw them in fully using a tool.

Installation is performed in reverse order to removal.







1. Screw in fastening screws -2- and tighten to tightening torque
- Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) +5 Nm (+3.5 ftlb.)-7.5 Nm (-5.5 ftlb.)







2. Screw in fastening screws -3- and tighten to tightening torque
- Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.) +1 Nm (+0.5 ftlb.)-2 Nm (-1.5 ftlb.)
- Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ftlb.)+1 Nm (+0.5 ftlb.)-1.5 Nm (-1 ftlb.)







3. Remove tie-wrap at radiator module.

Subsequent work

1. Install side air guide.
2. Insert plug connection at control unit for distance measuring sensor.
3. Install front apron.
4. Adjust control unit for distance measuring sensor.
