Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair



Removing and installing rear tie rod (toe control arm)





Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel.

Removing toe control arm

1. Remove toe control arm -1- on the wheel bearing housing -1b-.

Use the press-out tool 9560 for pressing out the ball joint. When loosening the lock nuts, counter at the wheel bearing housing -1b- with a screwdriver 9546 (Torx screwdriver) at the ball-joint pin.

2. Remove toe eccentric threaded joint on the rear-axle carrier side section. Mark the basic position of the toe eccentrics on the rear-axle carrier side section.

Installing toe control arm

1. Install toe control arm -1-. Replace all lock nuts.

Observe correct tightening torques.

1.1. Install eccentric threaded joint (toe control arm) on the rear-axle carrier side section.

Set the basic position of the toe eccentrics at the marked position on the rear-axle carrier side section and tighten lock nuts.

1.2. Fit toe control arm -1- on the wheel bearing housing -1b-.

Subsequent work

1. Fit wheel.
2. Align the vehicle.
