WM 647649 Eliminating noise symptoms: Reworking side window seal

General information

Symptom

Wind noise from around the mirror attachment point finisher.

Causes and remedial action

Cause

Disturbing wind noises can be heard from around the mirror attachment point finisher while driving at a speed of more than 150 km/h (90 mph) due to a missing filler piece on the right side window seal.

Remedial action

In the event of a complaint, a round rubber cord must be affixed to the side window seal on vehicles manufactured during the specified time period. To prevent water from leaking into the passenger compartment, a drain hole must be made in the affected rubber seal for the door.
