Removing and installing sealing ring for selector shaft

Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove underbody panels.
3. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.
4. Drain ATF.
5. Unscrew and remove ATF pan.
6. Remove ATF filter.
7. Unclip transmission wire harness (on vehicle side) at the transmission oil pan.
8. Remove connector for transmission wire harness.
9. Remove electrohydraulic control unit.

Removing sealing ring for selector shaft

1. Remove clips -2-.
2. Press off selector shaft connecting piece -1-.

3. Screw off fastening screw TX30 (6x20) for selector shaft at inner circuit board bracket.
4. Remove selector shaft out of transmission and circuit board bracket -3-. Secure circuit board bracket to prevent it from falling down.
5. Pull actuator -4 to 6- out of transmission and circuit board bracket out of transmission.
6. Lever out sealing ring for selector shaft -1-.

Installing sealing ring for selector shaft

1. Fit new sealing ring by hand.
2. Use a suitable tool (e.g. socket) to press in sealing ring until it is flush.
3. Check that the sealing ring is seated flush, press in again or tap gently if necessary.
4. The gear selecting system is assembled in reverse order to the disassembly.

1. The subsequent work is carried out in reverse order to the preliminary work.
