Instrument Cluster Replacement Spare Part
Vehicle Type:
911 Turbo (996)
Model Year:
2001 (1)
Concerns:
Instrument cluster for spare parts replacement.
Information:
Fault entry in the air-conditioning control unit.
Note:
Beginning immediately for the 911 Turbo (996) model 01(1), the instrument clusters, model year 02 (2) will be supplied as replacement spare parts.
Work Procedure:
After installation of an instrument cluster model 02 in a model 01 vehicle, a fault is registered in the air-conditioning control unit (fault 36/Can Time-out Instrument Cluster). This is caused by the altered software in the instrument cluster from model 02 onwards. After erasing the fault memory, the fault is immediately registered again.
Notes:
1. Entry of the fault has no effects on the function of the air-conditioning control unit. To check the CAN connection, with the engine running, switch on the compressor of the air-conditioner from the operator unit and set the temperature at 18°C (64°F). The function of the CAN connection is okay when cold air flows from the air outlets. The fault entry can then be ignored.
2. When updating a MY 2001 Turbo vehicle to a 2002 instrument cluster, the spoiler relay must be replaced. Please refer to 911 Turbo (996) Technical Bulletin, Group 9, # 10/01, dated 10-5-01 for details.
