Water Drains in Front Cowl Area

Vehicle Type:
Boxster

Model Year:
1997 (V) to 1999 (X)

Concerns:
Water leakage in passenger compartment caused by blocked water drains.

Information:

The water drains located in the front cowl area can get blocked by leaves or pine needles on vehicles which are often parked under or near trees. This can lead to water leaking into the passenger compartment.

The water drains in the front cowl area have been modified as of model year 00 (Y).

In the event of complaint, the water drains in the front cowl area are to be modified on MY '97 (V), MY '98 (W) and MY '99 (X) vehicles.

4.1 Raise the vehicle with the platform lift until the wheels are free.

4.2 Carefully remove the rubber ring (arrow E) in the left wheel housing using a small slotted screwdriver or a pair of pointed-nose pliers.

4.3 Grip the drainage hose (arrow D) from the wheel housing using a pair of pointed-nose pliers and at the same time carefully press the rubber sleeve (arrow C) from above downwards out of the body. Pull the drainage hose out of the body with the rubber sleeve.
