Speedometer Head: Description and Operation

The speed of the vehicle is given as a digital and, in the left-hand instrument, as an analog display.
The speed signal is taken from the ABS speed sensor (48 pulses) and the frequency division (split into 8 pulses) occurs at the instrument.
The display for the digital speedometer, total number of miles/kilometers, and odometer can be switched from km/h to mph and from km to miles and vice versa. To do this, the right-hand setting knob must be turned to the left for > 5 seconds. The on-board computer is not changed. The odometer is reset by pressing the left hand setting knob for approx. 1 second.
The displays for the total number of miles/kilo meters and odometer disappear approx. 4 seconds after the ignition has been switched off or when the vehicle is locked.
