Becker Radio Retrofit
8-31-01
Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera (993) / 911 Turbo (993)
Model Year:
MY 1996
Concern:
Retrofit of new version Becker radios.
Information:
Currently the CDR 210 radio is in short supply. Therefore it may be necessary to retrofit the newer version radio, CDR 220 in its place. The CDR 220 is currently installed in new vehicles.
It was necessary to modify the faceplate of the CDR 220 to achieve the proper viewing characteristics needed for the 911 (993) model. The radios are based on a rebuilt CDR 220. The modified radios are marked with a green dot on the rear surface of the faceplate and the serial number sticker is located on the chassis of the radio.
The modified radio is supplied with the necessary wiring for installation. Order the additional connectors for the Central Electric Board (CEB) as required.
The CDR 220 has the following additional features:
- Speed dependant volume control (GAL).
- Adjustable back light illumination.
Please read the entire bulletin first, then check with the customer to see how he/she wants the additional connections configured.
Work Procedure:
Installing the necessary wiring for the speed dependent volume control (GAL) and the back light illumination.
Note:
If the customer does not wish to have the "GAL" function active, skip to step 2.0.
