Changes in the 1996 maintenance requirements.

General Information:

For Model Year 1996 the maintenance requirements will remain the same as 1995 requirements (See Technical Bulletin Book K, Group 0, Number 9403) with the addition of the following items.

Basic maintenance 15,000 mile interval

- Check the Varioram System of the engine (non Turbo).
- Check the fluid levels for power steering / clutch system.
- Seals for doors, hood and roof: Remove rubber residue from the body contact areas and apply a suitable lubricant to the seals.

Basic maintenance 30,000 mile interval

- Change automatic transmission oil and filter.

Recommended Yearly Service (low yearly mileage vehicles)

- Change the engine oil.
- inspect for any oil or fluid leaks.
- Read fault memory with system tester 9288.
- Check free play of parking brake lever.
- Visual inspection of brake pads and discs for wear.
- Check brake fluid level.
- Check steering gear for leaks or damaged bellows / dust boots.
- Check tie rods for play.
- Check ball joint dust boots for damage.
- Visual inspection of drive shafts and boots for damage or leaks.
- Check exhaust system for leaks and tightness.
- Check tire condition and pressure.
- Seals for doors, hood and roof: Remove rubber residue from the body contact areas and apply a suitable lubricant to the seals.
- Check vehicle lighting.
- Check windshield wiper / washer operation and fluid level.
- Check battery electrolyte level and hydrometer test.
- Check operation of all other electrical equipment.
