Reporting OBD II Related Repairs
Models Affected:
All 1996 911 and 911 Turbo
As of Model Year 1996, all Porsche vehicles are equipped with On-Board Diagnostics, Version Two (OBD II). If a condition develops relevant to exhaust emissions control, the "Check Engine" (MIL) warning light will illuminate. All information concerning the fault or faults will be stored in the Fuel Injection ECM (DME).
If an OBD II equipped Porsche vehicle enters the workshop with the "Check Engine" light on, all information from the customer and the vehicle fault memory must be gathered and written down on the attached OBD II report form. Screen prints from the System Tester 9288 can be attached if available. This report, when completed, must be copied and sent or faxed to:
Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
980 Hammond Drive, Suite 1000
Atlanta, Georgia 30328
Attn. Technical Services or Fax: (770) 290-3711
