Function
A display for gear and program indication is integrated in the speedometer. The manual mode display is connected to ground via the control unit and connected to plus via fuse 11 (interior lamp).

Diagnosis conditions
A fault is detected and stored when the ignition is switched on and the manual program is active.

Diagnosis procedure

NOTE: Check fuse 11 (interior light) if gear and position display does not function.

Check wire from transmission control unit to speedometer for continuity.
1. Pull off transmission control unit connector.
2. Remove speedometer and pull off connector 2.
3. Connect ohmmeter to transmission control unit connector, pin 51, and speedometer connector, pin 9.
- Indication: 0...5 ohms
- If infinite resistance is indicated, check wiring harness for crushing and chafing damage.

Check wire from transmission control unit to the speedometer for short circuit to ground.
1. Connect ohmmeter to transmission control unit connector, pin 51, and ground.
- Indication: infinite resistance
- If 0...5 ohms is indicated, check wiring harness for crushing and chafing damage.

Check wire from the transmission control unit to the speedometer for short circuit to plus.
1. Switch on the ignition.
2. Connect voltmeter to transmission control unit connector, pin 51, and ground.
- Indication: 0 Volt
- If battery voltage is indicated, check wiring harness for crushing and chafing damage.
