Clutch pedal adjustment procedures.

Repair Information:
Some preconditions for proper clutch operation are:

- No leaks in the hydraulic system
- Properly bled hydraulic system
- Original pedal linkage
- Correct adjustment of the clutch master cylinder pressure rod and clutch pedal servo spring

1. Adjusting pedal position/clutch master cylinder pressure rod

After clutch master cylinder repair or replacement, the distance A (Figure 1) must be checked and adjusted if necessary. Adjustment is made by turning the pressure rod after loosening the lock nut. Measure distance A (147 +/- 0.5 mm) from center of bolt to body wall with the pedal released. (Pull back sound proofing to gain access to body wall.) Lock pressure rod with nut after adjustments. Proper adjustment of pressure rod guarantees correct pedal positioning.

2. Adjusting clutch pedal servo spring

Servo spring must be adjusted only after checking or adjusting pedal position.

Adjust distance B in Figure 1 to 65 +/- 1 mm. Measure from outside stop washer to bearing with clutch pedal released. Adjustment is made by turning the hex nut.

Note:
With servo spring removed, distance B = 76 +/- 1 mm (spring is locked with a 2 mm pin).

3. Clutch free play

Free play is not adjustable. The clutch master cylinder has an internal stop. If the pressure rod and servo spring assembly is adjusted correctly, the clutch pedal rests against the stop in the clutch master cylinder.

Pull pedal back to check if stop position is reached.

Pedal free play cannot be checked on the clutch pedal because of the automatic hydraulic adjustment.
