This bulletin supersedes Technical Bulletin Group 8, Number 9104, dated November 8, 1991.

Models Affected: 911 turbo, model year 1991 (M) and 1992 (N)

Figure 1:

Concern: Rear spoiler mounting bolt (B) contacts A/C line (A) in engine compartment (arrows in Figure 1).

Figure 2:

Vehicle Information: Modified high and low pressure A/C lines and mounting brackets are installed from production date July 19, 1991, VIN 96 - NS480192, to gain more clearance between the A/C lines and the spoiler mounting bolt.

Figure 3:

Repair Information: The spoiler mounting bolt M6 x 15 should be replaced with a counter sunk bolt (Figure 3) on all 1991 (M) and 1992 (N) model year 911 turbos up to VIN 96 - NS480191 when the vehicle is in the workshop for normal service or other repairs.

Figure 4:

Coat countersunk bolt threads with Loctite(R) 221 or 242 before installing. Reuse the 6 mm washer.

Cover the affected area of the A/C line with a piece of coolant hose or similar (length approx. 70 mm, inner diameter approx. 18 mm, wall thickness approx. 3 mm) and secure with two tie straps (Figure 4). Replace A/C lines showing surface chafing only if the line is leaking.
