Work Procedure "B"

Recall M02

This work procedure is for replacing and re-routing of the fuel hose.

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Raise the vehicle with the lift.

3. Support the weight of the transmission with a stand.

4. Remove the transmission carrier bracket to obtain easier access to the fuel hose/fuel line connection.

5. Remove the tie strap and the rubber insulated clamp from the vacuum hose to obtain better accessibility to the connection. See arrows in picture # 1.

6. Disconnect the accelerator rod from the transfer lever.

CAUTION:
Use every precaution when working with fuel to prevent fire and injury; absorb all fuel spillage with a rag.

7. Loosen the fuel hose, Part Number 930 356 068 02, from the fuel pump and from the fuel line in the frame. See arrow A in picture # 2.

Counter hold the fuel pump and the fuel line when loosening the fuel hose.

8. Remove the fuel hose towards the rear of the vehicle from the bracket on the frame.

9. Install new fuel hose and route it ABOVE the vacuum hose as shown with arrow B in picture # 2. Tighten the fuel hose securely at both ends while counter holding the fuel pump/fuel line.

10. Reinstall the previously removed rubber insulated clamp and a new tie strap, Part Number 999 513 010 40, as shown with arrows in picture # 3.

Note:
Due to the limited accessible space to secure the rubber insulated clamp with the original M6 x 16 screw, an M5 x 25 screw with two (2) A5.3 washers and an M5 lock nut may be used instead.

11. Check the fuel hose routing of the installed fuel hose as it is shown in picture # 4.

Ensure that there is a 10 to 15 mm distance between the hollow bolt for the fuel line on the fuel pump and the fuel line as shown in the above picture # 4, arrow A. If need be, reposition the installed fuel line.

12. Also check the routing of the fuel hose leading from the fuel pump to the engine as shown in picture # 5, arrow C.

This fuel hose must be routed from the fuel pump in a fight upward angle, assuring clearance from the left control arm when the suspension bottoms out fully. If need be, reposition this fuel hose as follows:

- Loosen hollow bolt which secures the fuel line to the fuel pump while counter holding the fuel pump.

- Remove the hollow bolt and replace both O-rings, Part Number N 013 818 2, reinstall hollow bolt.

- Align the fuel hose so it routes as described above and torque the hollow bolt with 20 N-m (15 ft.lbs.) while counter holding the fuel pump.

13. Reinstall the transmission carrier bracket. Use new lock nuts M8, Part Number N 022 146 4, on the bracket mounted to transmission and torque to 25 N-m (19 ft.lbs.). Torque the M12 bolts from the bracket to the body to 80 N-m (60 ft.lbs.).

14. Remove the transmission support stand.

15. Reconnect the accelerator rod.

16. Lower the vehicle with the lift.

17. Reconnect the battery.

18. Start the engine and check/verify that there is no fuel leak; if necessary correct fuel leakage.

19. Reset the time clock and the radio code.
