When diagnosing insufficient cooling of the air conditioning system, perform the following checks:
- freon level
- front condensor must be clean
- compressor belt tension
- recirculation flaps must be closed completely with A/C switched on
- ensure proper operation of mixing air flap and N.T.C. air temperature sensors (3)
- check adjustment of the evaporator icing switch
1. Remove air duct on left side of heater/A/C housing. Pull off rubber grommet sealing capillary tube to heater/A/C housing and remove capillary tube from evaporator. (Do Not Kink)
2. Pull off wires on icing switch and connect an ohmmeter.
3. Dip capillary tube into ice water. (Approx. 32~F) Switching off point must occur within 3 seconds. If necessary, adjust switch by turning slotted screw.
Clockwise - lower switch off point Counter-clockwise - higher switch off point
Caution: Setting of switching off point too low will cause evaporator icing and possible compressor damage.
