We would like to point out that a repair order is a contract between the dealer and the customer which is required in virtually all states on both warranty and customer paid repair orders. (Required by state regulation.)
In all cases, the customer's signature must be obtained before release of the vehicle to the customer to protect both the dealer and, in case of warranty, the manufacturer's, interest.
Specific RO requirements for warranty repairs can be found in the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual on page 4.3.
A customer signature on a warranty repair order is mandatory to support a warranty claim. In the case of vehicles in dealer inventory, the signature of the dealer service manager is required.
Please advise all personnel involved in RO handling.
