It has always been our policy to perform warranty repairs using the most economical method. This is consistent with existing warranty policies.
In the event that it is more economical to replace a major unit (short/long engine or short/long transmission) rather than to repair it, PRIOR authorization is required from your respective District Service Manager. We have been receiving a large number of claims without prior authorization.
Failure to adhere to this policy will delay processing and payment.
Additional guidelines for District Service Manager approval requirements may be found in the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual (Rev. 1/15/87) on page 4.19.
Please advise all personnel involved in warranty decision making.
