Removing/Installing Auxiliary Oil Cooler




REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL COOLER BLOWER

Removing

1. Remove right-hand front wheel.
2. Disconnect oil hoses.

Note: Use a suitable open-ended wrench to counter oil hoses when disconnecting. Catch escaping oil in a suitable container. Plug connections and lines.




3. Remove upper retaining nut.




4. Remove lower retaining nuts.




5. Disconnect plug-in connectors and push cables with rubber grommets to outside.
6. Remove oil cooler complete with blower by pulling up.




7. Remove blower mounting bolts.

Note: The temperature-operated switch is installed at the top of the oil cooler.




Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ftlb)

The temperature-operated switch actuates the blower when the oil temperature reaches 118°C.

Installing

1. Apply a coat of Optimoly TA to the connections for the oil hoses.
2. Use a suitable open-ended wrench to counter when tightening the oil-hose connections.
Tightening torque: 80-100 Nm (58-67 ftlb)
3. Check connections for leaks. The regulator for the front oil cooler must be open for this check (engine-oil temperature above 83°C).

No oil-cooler blower is installed in cars fitted with type 930/26 engines.
