Auxiliary Shaft: Service and Repair

INSTALLING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT




1. Gears and crankcases may only be paired as shown in the table.




Code (0 or 1) is stamped in the crankcase on the left side below the alternator take-up.




2. Install intermediate shaft bearing shells.
3. Install intermediate shaft in crankcase together with the connecting shaft and oil pump, but without timing chains. Mount oil pump and check, whether intermediate shaft, connecting shaft and oil pump run without runout. Keep changing spline connection of parts until smooth running is reached.
4. Install seal between right crankcase section and oil pump with grease.




5. Place completely pre-assembled oil pump/ intermediate shaft unit in right crankcase section.
