Limited Slip
Disassembly- Unscrew case cover bolts and take off cover.
- Remove all parts inside.

Assembling
- Inspect all parts for wear or damage, replacing if necessary.
a) Differential Case: Check for wear in guide grooves for outer plates and thrust rings.
b) Thrust Rings: Guides and bearing surfaces must not be worn or scored excessively. In addition, thrust rings must move easily in differential case.
c) Gears: Bearing surfaces for thrust washers must not be worn and inner plates must move easily on splines of gears.
d) Plates: Check inner and outer plates for wear. Guides of outer plates and splines of inner plates must not be worn.
- Lubricate all sliding surfaces of plates, thrust rings and differential shafts with SAE 90 hypoid gear lube before assembling.
- Insert thrust washers that retainers engage in bore of case or cover. Holding washers with a little grease is recommended to make assembling easier.
1 - Diaphragm spring
2 - Outer plate
3 - Inner plate
4 - Thrust washer
- Install remaining parts as shown in figure.
NOTE: Diaphragm springs must be installed that domed surface faces in toward plate set.
- Determine thickness of plate set: The thickness of the plate set has to be determined again when new parts are used.
- Measure case depth "a" with a depth gage.
Example: "a" = 95.5 mm
- Measure distance "b" of cover.
Example: "b" = 13.8 mm
- Determine clearance "c" in case.
Example: "c"= a - b
"a" = 95.5 mm
"b" =-13.8 mm
____________________
"c" = 81.7 mm
- Determine thickness of plate set - distance "d" (with 2.0 mm thick outer plates, but without diaphragm springs). Clamp plate set in a vise lightly and measure distance "d" with a sliding calipers.
Example: "d" = 76.50 mm
- Determine distance "e" (must be 5.20 mm).
Example: "e"=c - d
"c" = 81.70 mm
"d" =-76.50 mm
______________
"e" = 5.20 mm
e2 + e2 = 5.2 mm
NOTE: If actual distance "e" is less or more than specified value, install thicker or thinner outer plates.
"e" more than 5.20 mm - install thinner plates.
"e" less than 5.20 mm - install thicker plates.
NOTE: Outer plates are available in thicknesses of 1.9 mm, 2.0 mm and 2.1 mm.
- After finishing assembly, check slip torque with one each side differential gear held tight and driven. Clamp a flange with two bolts in a vise and mount differential. Insert second flange with a locally made connector and turn differential with a torque wrench. A torque of 10 to 35 Nm (7 to 25 ft lb) must be reached.
A = Connector (made locally)
NOTE: If the specified torque is not reached with the thickest outer plates, all plates are worn and must be replaced.
