Clutch Disc: Testing and Inspection
- Inspect splines. Clutch disc must slide easily on drive shaft in axial direction without radial play.- Inspect rivets, springs and torsion elements for tight fit, cracks or damage. Replace disc when in doubt.
- Inspect clutch linings. If clutch linings are covered with oil, burnt, damaged or worn at spots, install a new clutch disc.
- Check lining thickness of clutch disc. Clutch disc with riveted linings:
^ Thickness (released) = 8.1 ± 10.3 mm.
^ Wear limit (released) = 6.3 mm with symmetrical wear.
NOTE: Clutch linings cannot be replaced.
- Check clutch disc with lining for lateral runout about 2 to 3 mm away from outside diameter.
^ Max. permissible lateral runout: 0.6 mm.
