Power Steering Fluid Reservoir: Service and Repair



Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Clean the outside of the reservoir.




2. Remove the reservoir cap (2).
3. Use a siphon in order to remove the fluid from the reservoir.
4. Place a drain pan below the vehicle in order to catch the draining fluid.
5. Loosen the reservoir inlet hose clamp at the reservoir.

Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice.

6. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the reservoir.
7. Loosen the reservoir outlet hose clamp at the reservoir.
8. Remove the reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir.
9. Remove the reservoir from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the reservoir to the bracket.

Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice.

2. Install the reservoir outlet hose and the hose clamp to the reservoir.
3. Install the reservoir inlet hose and the hose clamp to the reservoir.

Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice.

4. Add fluid to the reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.

Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice.

5. Bleed the power steering system.




6. Install the reservoir cap (2).
