Brake Drum Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Release the park brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove the drum.




5. If the drum does not remove easily, then complete the following steps:
1. Remove the rear brake adjuster access hole plug.
2. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in the backing plate. Hold the brake shoe adjuster actuator away from the park brake lever strut.
3. Reduce the brake shoe adjustment by turning the park brake lever strut with another screwdriver.
4. Remove the drum.

Installation Procedure

1. Adjust the drum brakes if necessary.




2. Install the drum.
3. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Apply the park brake.
6. Release the park brake.
