SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 1DISABLING ZONE 1
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
3. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block (1), which is located near the base of the steering column.
4. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
5. Locate the front end discriminating sensor - right electrical connector (1).
6. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end discriminating sensor - right connector.
7. Remove the front end discriminating sensor - right electrical connector (1) from the front end discriminating sensor - right (2).
8. Open front hood, and locate the front end discriminating sensor - left electrical connector (1).
9. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end discriminating sensor - left connector.
10. Remove the front end discriminating sensor - left electrical connector (1) from the front end discriminating sensor - left (2).
ENABLING ZONE 1
1. Connect the front end discriminating sensor - left electrical connector (1) from the front end discriminating sensor - left (2).
2. Connect the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end discriminating sensor - left connector.
3. Connect the front end discriminating sensor right electrical connector (1) from the front end discriminating sensor - right (2).
4. Connect the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end discriminating sensor - right connector.
5. Connect the battery negative cable.
6. Install the AM2 Fuse into the junction block (1).
7. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8. The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
9. Perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Restraint Systems.
