Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio
RECEIVER REPLACEMENT - DIGITAL RADIOREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the rear shelf trim panel.
IMPORTANT: Do not swap digital radio receivers between vehicles. Swapping digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio Theftlock(R), and "XM Theftlock(R)" will display.
2. Disconnect the coaxial cable lead from the digital receiver (4).
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the receiver (4).
4. Remove the child tether attachment bolt (3) from the receiver bracket (2).
5. Lift the receiver bracket (2) at a 45 degree angle to disengage the locating tabs from the slots in the rear shelf (5).
6. Remove the receiver (4) from the rear shelf (5).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the receiver bracket (2) at a 45 degree angle to engage the locating tabs into the slots in the rear shelf (5).
IMPORTANT: The digital receiver bracket and the child tether attachment use the same fastener. Check the alignment of the child tether attachment and digital receiver bracket to the rear shelf prior to installing the fastener.
2. Install the child tether attachment bolt (3).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the receiver (4).
4. Connect the coaxial cable lead to the receiver (4).
5. Install the rear shelf trim panel.
6. Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver.
7. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio. The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.
IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.
The vehicle must be parked outside in an open area within 24 hours after an activation call.
8. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
9. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
10. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC position and the radio turned ON for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
11. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
